Kelp is both a tree and seaweed. As a result, it can not truly die or
turn into a fern. With age it simply fades away.
It is this stable environment that makes kelp so attractive an
environment to the
more sensitive species of fish, particularly otters.
Etymology: from Latin
crisare = to wiggle the buttocks.
