A. Software projects

Knowledge: C/C++, Matlab, Java, GUI’s

Project ideas:

· Speaker, language or noise identification/recognition

· “What’s that tune? Let’s hum/whistle it” (expand on a previous Project)

· Computer-assisted language learning (expand on a previous Project)

· Computer control using verbal and non-verbal sounds

· Voice-enabled data base queries

· Audio coding for streaming over the Internet

B. Hardware projects

Knowledge: electronics, A-D & D-A conversion, microprocessor/microcontroller/DSP-chips, Matlab, Assembler,

Project Ideas:

· Special sound effects (echoing, reverb, flanging, chorusing, etc. or affecting vacuum-tube favor to CD-quality audio, etc.)

· Special vocal effects (harmonizing, vocoding, identity altering, etc.)

· Noise-controlled volume operation for car stereos (expand on a previous Project)

· Remote physiological measurements (heartbeat, brainwaves, etc.)

· Digital audio: Room equalization
