Late Assignments

Timeliness is important with assignments! It's difficult for us as graders to return grades to you in a timely fashion if you don't turn in your assignments by the due date.

If, for some reason, you'll be unable to complete an assignment on time, let us know before the due date.

We're likely to be accomodating to any real troubles you're having (we're students too!), but emailing us on the due date is poor planning on your part and far less likely to earn you an extension.

That said, if you don't turn in an assignment on time, and don't have a good reason for the tardiness (which, again, you told us about before the due date), your maximum grade for the assignment will be lowered.

Your maximum grade for a late assignment will be calculated in a sort of radioactive decay:

Max late assignment grade = 0.9 to the power of (number of days late).

For the first seven days after the due date, your maximum grade is calculated using that formula. After the first week, your maximum grade will remain at 0.9^7 for three days.

Ten days afterthe due date, late assignments will not be accepted for grading.
