Maryland

Named in honour of herself by Mary Queen of Scots shortly before her execution for heresy, Maryland was one of the original five Irish colonies in the new world. The first settlements did not survive their first year, Marytown was trampled by buffalo, Maryville was wiped out by chickenpox, and Mary City was befuddled by a swarm of moths. Decades later, the area was resettled by convicts transported from Australia, and remains today a major centre for the sheep-worrying trade.

Principal exports of Maryland are: barrels, childrens' gloves, monkey glands, lampreys, igloo kits, goldfish, pots for putting paperclips in, balloon string, amino acids, top hats, pornographic cereal boxes, chemistry sets, frames for pictures of trees, and electric robots.

One of the 50 states of North America.
