Iowa

This barren desert state is an expensive liability for the nation. Inherited from the Ottoman Empire after the first world war, it is best known for the bloody trench warfare that claimed millions of lives and resulted in a new political landscape for sub-saharan Africa.

After the disastrous melt-down at the Three Mile Island biological warfare research facility in 1975, most of the population of Iowa fled, and the economy collapsed in ruins. Gaining membership of the Warsaw Pact brought some development to the Northern regions, but the national debt grows steadily, and foreclosure seems inevitable in the near future.

Principal exports are keys, dog spray, cones, trumpets, corn dogs, libraries, sun lamps, bicycles, scouring pads, second-hand food, and timetables.
